The Twelve "Games" of Christmas (#7 - Feather Float)

This game is called "Feather Float" and is the seventh game from the Twelve "Games" of Christmas.  Remember we are drawing the name of a person from one bowl and the name of a game they will attempt from another bowl.

Feather Float Game

Game #7:  Feather Float

You need:
  • A couple of small feathers

Using only their breath, the player must keep a feather in the air for 60 seconds.  If it is too hard, let them choose a couple of helpers from the "audience".

Note:  This game is very dependent on the feather.  I bought a package of craft feathers and trimmed off the ends to make them lighter...test your feather before you try this game.

Oh Christmas Tree Game

Game #6:  Oh Christmas Tree

You need:
  • 10 Green Cups
  • 10 Ping-Pong Balls

Align the cups in a triangular Christmas Tree shape.  The player has one minute to bounce a ping-pong ball and land it in each cup.  You may need a helper or two to retrieve the bouncing balls.    (To make it a little easier, we removed the cup after a ball landed in it.)

Defying Gravity Game

Game #5:  Defying Gravity

You need:
  • Three inflated balloons

The chosen player needs to keep three balloons in the air for one minute.  The balloons generally get away from whoever is trying to accomplish this one, so everyone ends up "helping" which makes it even more fun!

This game is called "Snowball Stack" and is the fourth game from The Twelve "Games" of Christmas.  Remember we are drawing the name of a person from one bowl and the name of a game that they will attempt from another bowl.

Snowball Stack Game

Game #4:  Snowball Stack

You need:
  • Three golf balls
The player has one minute to stack three golf balls on top of each other.  You will need a stable surface to accomplish this!  Be careful not to bump the table that they are trying it on.  This is a hard one, but it can be done!  (Let them go longer than one minute if necessary.  All of the guys will want to try this game - it's a fun one.)

Let younger kids try it with only two golf balls.

Snowball Stack Game

He DID it!  Sorry for the blurry pic, everyone was excited and we were trying not to bump the table!

Block Head Game

 Game #3:  Block Head

You need:
  • A plastic plate
  • Five wooden baby blocks (My blocks are old/well loved!)
Block Head Game

The player has one minute to stack five wooden baby blocks on a plastic plate that is balanced on their head.  Without prompting, the "audience" chimed in and helped by calling out instructions as the stack of blocks got higher, "Up a little, now move it over..."

(You could also try this one in front of a mirror.  For younger players, use fewer blocks and/or give them more time.)

Breakfast Scramble Game

Game #2:  Breakfast Scramble

You need:
  • The front panel from an empty cereal box

Breakfast Scramble Game

After you cut the front cover off of the empty cereal box, flip it over and use a ruler to mark it into 4 rows with 4 columns.  Cut the "puzzle" into 16 even(ish) pieces.

Breakfast Scramble Game

The goal is to reassemble the puzzle into the cereal box cover.

I would slightly adjust the time depending on the whose name was drawn.  For a child, give them ~one minute (or however long it takes) to correctly assemble the pieces back into the cereal box cover.

Give an adult approximately 45 seconds.  (Try it yourself first and see how long it takes you, then use slightly less than that amount of time.)  ๐Ÿ˜„

The Twelve "Games" of Christmas (#1 - A Bit Dicey)

The Snow Birds are getting ready to fly south, so we will be having Christmas in November this year.  My mother-in-law asked me to come up with a few games in an attempt to get the men more involved in our festivities.  My thought was to keep the games short and sweet, with a lot of variety and a little friendly competition.

A Bit Dicey Game

This led to a takeoff on some "Minute to Win It" ideas, which I am calling:

The Twelve Games of Christmas

We will draw a person's name from one bowl and the game that they will attempt from another bowl...

Game #1: A Bit "Dicey"

You need:
  • Six dice (We borrowed them from our Farkle game.)
  • Popsicle sticks (or wider Craft sticks for very young players)

The player has one minute to balance (stack) all six dice on a popsicle stick that is held in their mouth.  For younger kids, use a Craft stick and give them fewer dice.  Remember to bring extra popsicle sticks because other people will want to try this, too!
