Suitcase Gift Wrap How-To

Today I will show you how to wrap any small gift to look like a suitcase.  I've also included a free printable Wishing You Another Year PACKED With Adventure "luggage" tag to go along with it!

Suitcase Gift Wrap How-To

An ad for the cutest scratch-off adventure cards showed up in my Facebook feed (not an affiliate).  I initially ordered them for myself, but I ended up wrapping them up as a milestone birthday present for my son.  (We always "went on adventures" when the kids were little.)

Reach International Outfitters

I bought Minnesota, but as of this writing they also have California, Texas, and Arizona (with Wisconsin and Utah coming soon).  A super fun gift idea if you have friends/family in those states!

Because of the shape of the box, I thought this would make a cute little suitcase if I turned it on its side.  This is what I did:

First, wrap the box in Kraft paper if you have it.  If you don't, just use a paper lunch sack or grocery bag.

Next, you will need to punch six circles (mine were 1 1/4" each) and cut two long strips out of brown paper.  Time to dig out your old scrapbooking supplies!

Cut four of the circles in half and the remaining two in quarters.  I slightly bent them and lightly pressed down the edges so I could approximately tell where to cut.

Slightly fold the half cuts down the middle and use a glue stick to attach them to each corner as shown above and below.  Glue one on each of the eight corners.

The quarter cuts will be used to fill-in the pie shape on the edges.  Again, do this for all eight edges.

Cut pointy edges on one side of the two long strips.

Apply glue to the entire length of the brown strips and wrap them around the package with the points overlapping on top.  Cut a smaller piece of brown paper for the handle and also cut little points on the ends.  Glue on the handle.

Print the tags on cream colored cardstock.  Cut out your tag, punch a hole and use twine to tie it to the handle of your little suitcase.  (Fold your twine in half and push the folded end through the punched hole.  Thread the ends through and tighten slightly before you tie it on.)
