Candy Rocket Gift Idea

I found a cute (free) printable from Amanda's Parties To Go that I adapted into a candy rocket for the 4th of July!

Amanda has great instructions, so I won't repeat everything -- but I will give you a couple of tips.  I printed everything on plain copier paper (instead of the heavier paper that she suggests) and it was just fine!
  • Use scotch tape to secure the striped rocket paper around the body of the package for a better fit.
  • Use a low temp glue gun to make the cone and attach it to the top of the rocket.

Note:  The printable  is sized to fit around a package of Rolo's, but I used LifeSavers instead.  They are a little shorter, so I was able to hot glue my "flames" inside the empty space.  I also created my own fireworks gift tag (new and improved from the original tag in the photo) instead of using her cloud.

Wedding Shower "Who Said It?" Game

Here is another fun game that we played at my niece's wedding shower.  Your guests are trying to determine if the bride or the groom "said it".

Just for fun, I pasted an image of the bride and groom into Microsoft Word.  I used the "Snip-it" tool to separate and resize their heads to each fit onto an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.  I printed them out on a color copier and used a glue stick to paste them onto cardstock.  After trimming around the edges and taping them to a craft stick, they were done!  I had originally planned to hold up the puppets when I told everyone "Who Said It", but the kids were too busy playing with them.

If you want to make the bride/groom "puppets", this post may help (contact me if you are still confused):  How To Use The Snipping Tool

"Who Said It?" Wedding Shower Game

Before the shower, I emailed my niece some questions and she emailed me back her answers.  She then asked her groom-to-be the same questions and emailed me his answers.  Just copy/paste the questions into an email OR use this "Who Said It" printable to mail the questions to the bride/groom a couple of weeks before your party.  (Ask them to answer the questions before they compare with each other!)

  1.  Favorite TV Show

I used 20 of the 25 questions for my game and made simple answer sheets with the name of the bride and groom on each line.  If you'd like a 20 question generic answer sheet, I made a free one for you.

After I asked the question, the guests were asked to circle one of the names depending on who they thought "said it".  (If you use my generic sheet, they will circle "bride" or "groom".)

I compiled a master list where half of the answers were from the bride and half were from the groom in random order.

Some of them were easy to figure out...
  • Who said their favorite game is "Call of Duty"?  (That would be the Groom.)
Some were a bit more difficult...
  • Who said their favorite TV show is "The Office"?  (Hmm, that could be either one of them!)
This game was fun because we learned a little bit more about both the bride and the groom!  The winner is the person with the most correct answers.  You should probably save a couple of answers just in case there is a tie (see below).

Note:  The reason that I only used 20 out of 25 questions was because niecey-poo answered three of them like this:
  • Favorite Board Game:  I don't like games
  • Favorite Sport to Watch:  I don't like sports
  • Favorite Animal:  I don't like animals
We had a good laugh after the game was over, but that is why I only used 20 questions and held back the remaining two questions/answers in case there was a tie.

Easy "Family Feud" Wedding Shower Game

My niece is getting married, and we played this easy "Family Feud" style game at her wedding shower.

The happy couple!

I found the "100 people surveyed" answers at a fun website:  Diva Girl Parties and then I tweaked the game to make it easier for a group to play.

I picked ten questions with their respective top five answers.  Simply hand out answer sheets numbered from one to ten (create your own or use my free one here).

Say something like, "100 random people were surveyed and the top five answers are on the board.  Try to guess the number one answer for each question by writing down the first thing that pops into your head.  Points will be scored for each answer that is on the "board".  The person with the highest total score will be the winner."

Example question:

1)  Besides a rose, what is the most popular wedding flower?  (Think of an answer and scroll down...)

If you thought of:
Lily = 5 points
Calla Lily = 4 points
Daisy = 3 points
Carnation = 2 points
Orchid = 1 point
(Any other answer scores 0 points)

Here is a free printable version of the game for you!

Here are the questions that I used (read them out loud and give them a few seconds to write down their answer):

1)  Besides a rose, what is the most popular wedding flower?

2)  What is the most popular color for a bridesmaid dress?

3)  What type of fabric is a wedding dress made of?

4)  How old is the average bride?

5)  How many bridesmaids are in most weddings?
