April Fools Potato Chip Prank

This is a very EASY April Fools joke...

Simply take a large potato chip and place it on the front seat of your loved one's vehicle.

Now for the overacting part (to make it seem like they have a chip in their paint)!  Say something like this while shaking your head in disgust,

"Wow!  Did you see that big chip in your car?!?  It's huge...
I wonder how that happened? Where'd you go today?"

The kidlets did this for hubby a few years back...and they thought it was a hoot!

Leprechaun Loot Treasure Hunt

I found a bag of twelve large plastic coins at Dollar Tree...

For my St. Paddy's Day treasure hunt, I wanted to think of a six word clue to put on the back of the coins (I have two kids)...

I came up with "WHEN YOU SOLVE THIS SEE MOM".

(Note:  I didn't use punctuation because I wanted to make it harder to unscramble..."SEE MOM WHEN YOU SOLVE THIS" would also work!)

I printed the words on address labels and attached them to the back of the coins.

My kids get ready for school in two different bathrooms.  I'm going to hide the coins and/or leave them laying around and see if they will pick them up.  (I am trying to get them to "notice" when things are messy/out of place and see if they'll do anything about it.)

If they pick them up, and if they solve the puzzle, they will get a green box of candy for their efforts!

Happy St. Patrick's Week!

Leprechaun Envelope Treat Bag

For some St. Patrick's Day fun, I'm going to show you how to make an EASY Leprechaun treat bag out of an envelope!

Leprechaun Envelope Treat Bag

Seal the flap on a small envelope and then flip it over.  Follow my approximate pattern and draw a face and hat on your envelope.

Use colored pencils, markers or crayons to color your picture.

Then cut off the white part on both sides of the hat.

Now you can squeeze your leprechaun and fill him with tissue paper and treats.  (I filled mine with gold coins...because that's what you find at the end of a rainbow!)

This one made the kids smile.  Envelopes are so inexpensive that you can draw and draw until you get a face that you like!  Try it!

“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.

And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”

More St. Patrick's Day Ideas:

I Was Framed! (Dishcloth Edition)

Nate Berkus has been touting the benefits of framing fabric...and I wanted to (inexpensively) give it a try.  I found three coordinating dishcloths on clearance at Target for $2.49.  Then I went to IKEA and bought three 8x10 frames (with mats!) for $4.99 each.

I washed and dried the dishcloths to pre-shrink them.  Then I ironed them and cut off the binding.  Do you know what I used to hold them in place?  Scotch tape!  I just moved my pattern around until I liked it and taped it down.  The frame back holds it firmly in place...so easy!

I haven't actually hung them on the wall yet, but when I do I'll post a picture for you!

Cute, right?  And all for under $20!

Decorative Twine Ball How-To

Have you ever wondered how to make those twine balls that people use as decorations?  They are easy to do, and this is a GREAT way to use up all your old school glue!

Blow up a small balloon until it's round-ish and then tie it off.  Squeeze a bunch of glue into a small bowl and then dilute it with some water (the goal is approx. 2/3 glue, 1/3 water, but this isn't an exact science).  Note:  It helps to add a bit of Mod Podge, too!

Dip the twine in the glue mixture and start wrapping it around the balloon.  This step is messy, but fun!

Wrap the balloon until you like the approximate look of the twine ball.  Note:  You can slightly adjust the wet strings before they dry.  Set the twine ball on a small bowl and let it dry at least overnight (turning it occasionally).

The next day, pop the balloon and pull it out through one of the holes.  Ta-da!  Easy, decorative twine balls...fun for young and old alike!  (Your cat will like them, too!)

I haven't found the perfect way to display mine yet, but in the mean time, I'm thinking Disney...
