Kung Fu Panda Party Ideas, Part 2

*********************************************
The night before the birthday party,
I printed six copies of this:

Note:  A tangram is a Chinese puzzle made of five triangles,
a square, and a rhomboid...

Follow the white lines and cut the pieces apart.

There is a "key" showing the outline of all the characters from Kung Fu Panda (Po, Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Crane, Viper).  The goal is to use all seven pieces to create the image without overlapping any of the pieces.

Mantis (solved)

I will tell you that it took me about an hour to figure out all six.  (This kind of thinking is not my forte.)  Some of them are hard, so I took pictures of how I solved them (email me if you get stuck!).

I made an envelope for each character which I taped to a piece of paper with the character printed on it.
Here is Tigress (I was not fancy, notice the tape!)

When we got home from the movie, I gave birthday boy a piece of paper that said:

Mr. Ping says that it is time to use your noodle!  (get it?)
A tangram is a Chinese puzzle made of five triangles, a square, and a rhomboid.  Use all seven pieces of the tangram to create the furious five and Po.
Remember:  the pieces can’t overlap!
Everyone helped, but this still took a bit of time -- which was great!

Once all six of the puzzles were completed, I brought out Po with a special "Certificate of Awesomeness"...

(I was a little challenged with Po's feet, so I just ended up taping him to a piece of paper.  I tied a ribbon around the certificate as a "black belt".)

I believe I've mentioned how my kids like money for gifts.  I taped money inside the stand-up Po, and he was a very popular little Panda!

(Stay tuned:  I'll wrap up with Part 3.)
