Easy Bunny (Mouse?) Sugar Cookies!

I'm going to share a deep, dark secret with you...my youngest teenager doesn't think our house is "fun".  He rarely wants to have his friends over because "there's nothing to do here".  What?!?  Comments like that pierce the heart of this so-called "idea girl".

Fast-forward to yesterday when I was catching up on my blog reading.  I found these cute bunny cookies on my favorite "I think I can do that" baking blog.  (Munchkin Munchies)

They looked easy enough, so I sent hubby to the store with a list of ingredients...refrigerated cookie dough, white frosting, and pink/black decorator icing.

I was on a mission to prove how fun our house can be!  Connor invited one of the neighbor girls over and we attempted to make bunny cookies...

Start by cutting the dough into 16 equal pieces about 1/2 inch each.

We used two cookie sheets and laid four circles on each one.  Next, cut the remaining eight circles in half and lightly press them onto the heads for "ears".

Bake the cookies according to the package directions until they are slightly brown on the edges.  They were funny to watch...some looked like Mickey Mouse or a pig (we laughed).  Let them cool.

Frost and decorate the cookies.

Is it a bunny or a mouse?

The next picture shows one of our better bunnies, until I was too slow with the camera and it "hopped" off the plate.

(You might say it committed "HARE-y Kari"!)

Anyway, even though our bunnies didn't quite turn out as planned, the kids had fun and the cookies were good.  Score one for the idea girl!
